Hi guys,

I'm applying for visitor visa for my mother and I need to provide proof of means of financial support. Actually I'm going to support my mother, she will live in my apartment and I'll buy travel insurance. She don't have any money in the bank. What should she use as a proof of means?

Thanks in advance for your help

If she doesn't have money, you should show your assets and money.

What about income? Because I have about 4-5k in my bank account, not sure if that enough. Also there is a field in the main application "Funds available for my stay". What should I fill in there?

Yes, show you have a job, get a letter from your employer stating your salary, how long you've worked there, etc. Get paystubs from them. I don't know about the funds available for stay, what to fill if your mom has no money.

Thanks a lot. Anyway if anybody can help me out what should I put in "Funds available for my stay" it will be highly appreciated. I can't afford any mistake, because my mother is needed a lot for helping us with our newborn.

I'm sorry supreme if I'm of no help. Perhaps, I would tell you that we are in the same boat of needing our mom here to help for our little ones. I may ask you a question as we'll... How do you write your invitation letter? Did you mention it that you need your mom here to help out with the newborn? Thanks

I didn't prepare invitation letter yet, but yes - I need to mention that I'm inviting her for newborn support and care otherwise visa office will be suspicious about invitation for 4-6 months. We had to call 911 last week for our newborn, now he is ok, but requires more attention. I'm thinking to do all this stuff with lawyer's help so it will be fast. There are a lot of stuff to figure out and I don't want to make a mistake.

I would think that the IO will think that a canadian can actually do that job (take care of ur newborn), so that might be a reason for refusal! Instead u can say that u would like ur mother to visit so she can meet ur newborn anf be an emtional support during the first few months and help teach how to care for the baby! For my parents app I put 3k in funds ( showed bank account gor my parents with way more money than that)

Thanks, great advise. Followed that and looks like there is the progress. They have requested passport.
