Hi everyone! I am an American, and my husband is Canadian. We got married in February, after being in a relationship for more than 6 years. 4 of the last 6 years were long-distance. Form IMM5490E asks for detailed information about visits and trips together. We have seen each other at least one every month, so there were a lot of trips. How much information do you need to provide? 20 pages of tickets/photos/emails? Or would they want even more? We could probably provide hundreds of pages of proof...

Thanks for any feedback!

Focus on quality not quantity.

your marriage certificate. proof of your trip ( air plane ticket etc) : just one or two each year I would say .

pictures on major events, special day , with families (you with his family, him with yours, christmas day, wedding day etc)

you do not need to send all of emails (probably some of them : as a proof of how your relationship developed etc)

Good luck.

Send a sampling of the emails from the beginning to now, and then state that you have more and will send them if the visa officer wants more proof. You can also send in the log showing the date and time of the emails, to show how many there have been.

Because you have had so many trips to see each other, I would make up a separate document clearly laying out the dates of each trip, where you went, etc. Then you can attach proof for some of them. for example:
1. January 16, 2009 - February 6, 2009. ___ and I traveled to Jamaica. (See attached plane tickets, boarding passes, hotel receipt.)
2. March 4, 2009 - March 7, 2009. ____ and I spent the weekend together in Toronto. (See attached hotel receipt.)
Etc.
