Hello

I am applying to sponsor my wife under the spousal sponsorship route. I work full time and have a letter from my employer indicating everything CIC wants. I am also submitting option C printout issued from CRA. My question is about an item listed in the checklist:

On the document checklist, part 18. "If you, and if applicable, your co-signer received interest, provide evidence of interest income (bank statement showing rate of interest, deposit amount and length of time deposit held) over the 12 months preceding the date of the sponsorship."

Does this apply to everyone, or only if you were "sole owners of an unincorporated business". I'm really not clear here. If it is require for everyone, is this a copy of bank statements of all bank accounts held or just savings?

Here is the checklist: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5491E.PDF

Thanks

Good news .... you don't need to complete that section. Since you are sponsoring your spouse you aren't subject to a minimumincome requirement (although you do need to convince them that you have sufficient funds to settle in, etc). In addition, you are submitting an option C printout. Therefore, section 19 does not apply to you.

I believe, it is for those people who have a substantial amount of investment and rely solely on the interest they earn, they do not have to work. As such, they would not have employment letters nor a business to show. If you are employed, you can simply provide the required documents.
