Dear All,

I would like to clarify some doubts on proof of funds.
1) I have a letter from bank specifying the current balance and that it is available to use. Do I still need to attach last 6 months statement?

2) During last six months in Oct I got the amount required to show (i.e. 12164) transferred into my account from my father's account. Is this going to be an issue?

You do not have to, but it will help to re-enforce the contents of the letter.

You need to do a gift Deed from your father to you indicating that your father gave you the money for the purposes of settling in Canada and you do not have to pay him back.

Yes.

No issue. Just get a gift deed signed from your father stating that this amount is a gift to my son/daughter and need not be returned.

Thanks for your reply. The bank letter, although it specifies the current balance it does not mention the balance of past six months. Can I still use it without the last six months bank statement?

If I were you I would use 6 months statements to show the VO the history of the account for the last 6 months. They are looking for credit transactions which excludes salary to prove that you have title to the funds and do not owe anyone any money. If someone deposited money into your account (eg parent, sister, brother, cousin, friend etc.) get a gift deed stating that you don't have to repay them the money.

Thanks, I will do that.
I am not sure how to get a gift deed though, or what it looks like...
