Do I have to bring proof of funds at border?

My immigration lawyers says they may ask for that
Since I have student visa right now..

If you applied PR under CEC category and you have job offer then POF not required.

Why does he have to have a job offer??!!! Stop confusing people!
Proof of funds are not applicable to CEC stream, regardless! There is no IF conditions here!

There is no hard and fast rule. But they do ask for it. I did landing in April and she asked for it and I showed thats it. I would say just take it in case they ask for it..obviously it's pretty easy to obtain.

If you are student still then you don't have Canadian Work Experience and as a result you've got your PR in the FSW category.

You are required to show Proof of Funds under FSW.

Your officer wanted to make sure that you have enough money with you so you don't go sleeping on the streets! You could have easily said I don't have any documents, but I have enough money in my bank account. Under CEC stream, there is no need for proof of funds documents, it's not mandatory at all.

You would be impressed. Under CEC it is not required to show proof of funds, but when I aplied for PR under CEC, I got in september last year I a letter that I had to show a job offer, AND proof of funds.
I am under NOC code 7172, and in this category is nobody who can show an income from $ 90.000 a year. ( that's where CIC asked for, tax table3)
Surprissed that I got my PR after a long wait in March 2016, because I showed my own income together with the income of two children.
Whitout any further explanation I got PR after 6 months since I got the proof of funds letter. ( aplied for PR in May 2015)

Congrats on your PR, but trust you me, it's not mandatory on landing. They might ask for it during the application process depending on your situation and documents provided, but not on landing process. Besides every applicant is unique so is every application. You can't compare your processing steps and officer required documents with any other applicant. They know what they are asking for and they have their own reasons.

Again congrats on your PR.
