Right now the funds required is CAD 12,699, but is it enough if we show this much after paying the application fees or do we need to have above that to pay for future flight charges, etc when submitting the application?

The minimum balance as mentioned by CIC needs to be maintained throughout the entire process till the time you land in Canada. You need to maintain a considerable amount more than the minimum amount required as currency exchange rates keep on fluctuating. But IRCC wouldn't think that you need more money than the minimum amount stated as you will need to book flight tickets. Nothing like that. You need to simply take care of all your expenses and maintain the minimum required amount with a safe margin for currency exchange rate fluctuations. Good luck!
