Hello house. I've got a little problem. I intend being the principal applicant and i'm yet to enter into the EE pool.

Now, the issue I have is as regards funds. The stated funds for a family of 3 is in my husband's personal account which I've heard will not fly if I intend using it.

Can we open a joint account ASAP and move the fund there? So that either of us can use it to apply, depending on who gets ITA? Then again, heard the funds have to be there for a minimum of 6months prior to ITA. Or should we wait till I get ITA and he transfers the money into my personal account and with a gift deed?

Another issue is that my passport is still in my maiden name and I don't intend getting another one for now cos all my travel history are in it. Does this pose any problems?

1. You should make the already existing account(your husband's) as joint account. that will work.

2. In this blog i have read, If your partner is accompanying you then your partner's account can also work (but joint will be preferable one).

3. When you file your application for PR (after ITA) then funds should be 6 months old or you can add letter of explanation for any big transactions (say transaction having more than 20% of total funds) in your account.

4. I also know people who got through PR process without providing 6 months statements or average balance. You just need to provide Bank Balance Certificate. This certificate contains that account belongs to you and you are having XXXX amount of balance in your account. So if you are unable to explain POF then just go by this Balance Certificate. In later stages if CIC ask for bank statement then you can provide, may be by the time funds would have been 6 months old.

I will say go by point 1 or 3 to be on safer side.

Thanks for the prompt response cjs. I'm grateful. Will go with option 1 then.

Any idea of the maiden name thingy?
