Hello,
I have some cash in my account but not enough to fulfil the amount required by CIC which is $21.800 for a family of 4. I have an apartment worth $50.000 in my country. Can I use the property as a proof of fund?. I also have a car here in Canada worth $5.000. Can I also use it as a proof of fund?...

thanks anyone has a similar situation...

mohamed - I'm sorry I don't have experience with this, but I think you cannot show property because it is not easily liquidated. You can see more in these forums e.g. here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/proof-of-funds-requirements-explained-t45043.0.html

By the way, if you have a job offer i.e. you are applying under Arranged Employment I don't think you need to show proof of funds.

thanks for the reply but from the link you sent it says "Real Estate: Money in property is probably the most widely used proof of funds. Many people plan to sell property owned in their home country before landing in Canada and will use the equity to establish themselves".so owing an apartment would be fine.....

Settlement funds must be liquid and unencumbered. Property doesn't count.

Agreed. You can't include your property or your car.
