I have sent my document to visa office about 5 days ago. I have 17,000 in my account which is surficient for me for the application. But I have an urgent need of 700 now. Can I withdraw 700 now and return it in arround two month time or anytime they ask me to provide another proof of fund. Do they look into once account routinely without ones notice.

Ithink you cas use some amount and then can deposite again before medical comes, bcs ihave heard that they can ask again abt statement at the time of medical.

but for more inf... seniors please comments

What do you mean if they look into one's account? Are you referring to the fact if they look on your bank statement or if they call the bank without notice?

yes, they might check with the bank.... See, its not that, they will check at the time of processing only but, they might check during eligibility review also... however, if you are the only applicant in your case then you dont need to show $17K cdn... about $10,500 cdn is also enough

I mean will they check my account balance without my knowledge. What I heard people saying is that they can ask one to represent another proof of fund anytime. I have never heard them checking ones balace with the bank. I think they only check the autenticity of the nature of proof of fund , not the fund. I stand to be corrected. i need more comment and help as I only need the money urgently for a short period of time. So I need quick response

Ok if you believe they dont check with the bank then its upto you

If I tell you a case who is my friend then, in 2003 when he was interviewed for the student visa, VO had called his bank during interview only. The VO had asked for the bank balance only and after he confirmed with the bank officer he had approved my friend's case and had asked him to go for the medicals

It was my suggestion to you and I would not play blackjack with CHC

TJ2010, I think they can ask for another bank statement(proof of funds) during the VO's application process. I have heard about this before. But I don't think (maybe I'm wrong) that they can call the bank and ask about your funds. I mean, I don't think that the bank has the right or the authority to give information about your account to any person who calls, even if we talk about a visa office...I don't think is legal...That's my opinion and as I said I might be wrong. The only thing that comes to my mind is that we are talking about personal and confidentional information. Hope that this will help you.

Quite beside the issue that I agree you don't want to risk it - does anyone know under which legislation the CHC can obtain your bank balance without your prior consent or notice? Did you sign something in the documentation to allow them to do this?

Otherwise I am fairly sure the Data Protection Act will not allow anyone, even the CHC, access to your banking information without your prior consent, or at least knowledge.

i think they have the authority to check with bank. infact, im sure caus when i was interviewed in 2001 by UK visa officer, they called my dad's bank to check..im sure of that..caus my dad deposited quite a lot of funds in 1 month...

See, in the example I gave, my friend had got a letter from the bank on bank's letterhead stating his balance on his savings account. The person who had signed had also mentioned in the letter "Please feel free to contact me for any concern to this matter". So, the VO called on the no. available on the letterhead and introduced himself first and then explained about that letter.

Naturally, after this the bank officer was convinced that he was talking to an officer from embassy. Also, my friend had said to the Bank officer that he would need that letter for Visa purpose.

Of course this is 7 years old matter but, the fact is, they might contact if the letter you did submit has declaration to contact Bank

Exactly what was I talking about...What law or who gives the authority to the VO to have access to our bank account? As far as I know nobody besides the owner(or owners) has the right; that is why there are bank statements, and bank letters as proof because they are genuine documents issued for certain purposes. Of course, is not a smart move to begin spending the amount declared as proof of funds, but as far as I know I don't want to become paranoid.

Anyway I think I am abit scared by what people are saying and I cant take the risk. I'll leave it. I"ll look for the money i need somewhere else.

During your PR process u can perform any & many transactions (regular or sporadic) from your Bank A/Cs, it doesn't matter. U can also go below the required POF levels@some occasions, but try to maintain at least 70-80% balance.

As u go along, around your Meds, u'd be again asked for a latest POF. That time u must have the full (or more) funds as per the CIC guideline.

BTW, it's perfectly fine to do withdrawals/deposits on your a/c... It's for that purpose that one maintains a bank a/c, doesn't he? But, one should generally have a 70-80% balance in the a/c regularly, which'd prove that s/he has the monies to migrate & won't stretch a hand for sudden windfalls.
