Hi i am currently unemployed but got a good savings in my bank. about to sponsor wife. The problem is document checklist...

from here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5491E.pdf

line 18 says...

18)
Proof of employment
If you are employed, provide an original letter from your current employer stating your period of employment, salary,
and regular hours per week. If you have a co-signer who is employed, include a similar letter from his or
her employer.
AND/OR
Proof of income
For the 12 months preceding the date of your sponsorship, if you and, if applicable, your co-signer:

are the sole owners of, or partners in an unincorporated business, provide evidence of self-employment income
(statement of business activities).

received interest on income earned, provide evidence of interest income (bank statement showing rate of interest,
deposit amount and length of time deposit held).

NOW I AM WONDERING I DON'T HAVE LETTER FROM EMPLOYER BECAUSE I AM CURRENTLY UNEMPLOYED SO WHAT SHALL I DO?

SHALL I TICK THE DOCUMENT CHECKLIST WITH NOT APPLICABLE?

OR ANY IDEAS SUGGESTIONS?

THANKS MUCH

Hi

Put N/A and include a letter of explanation.

ok thanks... I was also thinking of doing the same but just in case do they reject or return the application because of unemployed status?

any past experiences with folks out here who went through same?

thanks

No, they won't return or reject the application because the sponsor is unemployed. You can include a letter in the application outlining your plans for your future together in Canada: where you will live, what job you are looking for, what job your wife hopes to get, how you will support yourselves, etc. Include proof, such as a letter from family offering support or a place to stay, proof of savings, etc.

There is no requirement to be employed. Many unemployed people sponsor their spouses without issue.
