Hello,
My cousin, whose father is a naturalized Canadian citizen has recently moved here with his father and mother from Greece. He is a minor, and we have sent in a proof of citizenship application for him (based on the fact that his father is a citizen). The instructions on the form were for us to send a certified true copy of my cousin’s Greek birth certificate, which we did, and sent a certified translation as well. However, Immigration and Citizenship called us after receiving the application and said that we must have his brith certificate authorized by an MP or someone similar stating that this person has known my cousin for so many years and so on. The problem is he does not know anyone like that, and the person who called us is now on vacation until August.
Can anyone shed some light on this “authorization” requirement and why it was not in the instructions for the proof of citizenship form. What options do we have?
Thanks.
