I have applied on 4 April 2011, received a letter from CIC that the file has been sent to Visa office for further review on 5 May 2011. How long it takes for the visa office to get the file?

CIC will transfer file in couple of weeks, but you have to send docs to VO in 120 days. The VO doesn't consider the date of file transfer from CIO to VO as benchmark. The benchmark date is the date when VO receives the complete documents and application.

the process for post 26/6 requires full doxs to be sent to CIC, visa office to to do further checks/bc. so the 120 days window no longer exists.
