Processing time for work visa for costarican

Hi
My fiancé is Costarican and has submitted his work contract and signed his visa. He says he's just waiting to get back. He went to San Jose and renewed his passport and applied for a work visa. He went thru an agency that charged him $5000.00 dollars. He just recieved his passport. He is only waiting on the work visa. What is the processing time?

$5K is a great deal of money. Hopefully your fiance hasn't been scammed and it's a real job.

Just to add... Guatemala is the office responsible for processing application from Costa Rica.
