Processing permanent residence is almost complete...

Hi there,

I am an American spouse living in the UK with my Canadian spouse who is sponsoring me to relocate to Canada. We have received a letter that asks to submit my passport. I can see that because I am a US citizen, I am exempt from sending in a hard copy.

However, in addition to submitting a photocopy of my passport, I need to fill out Appendix A (Updated information chart). This chart requests passport information for the principal applicant (me) and spouse (my Canadian Spouse). My spouse's Canadian passport expires on 4 July 2019 and we were planning on renewing it nearer the expiration date. This letter states the following:

If you do not require a visa to enter Canada:

• Please submit one photocopy of the photo page and any pages containing amendments of the valid passport for you and one for each accompanying family member .
• Your Permanent Resident document(s) will expire one year after the date of your medical examinations or earlier if your passport or the passports of your spouse or dependant children (if applicable) expire on an earlier date.

- We have flights booked to arrive in Canada in October 2019. Does my spouse need to renew her passport? I only did my medical exam a few weeks ago.

We have 30 days to submit this information so this is a bit of an urgent query.

Any help on this would be great!

Her passport has nothing to do with your passport request it's yours they want. She's not considered an accompanying family member as she is the sponsor.

She will of course need to renew hers before it expires.

So does that mean that I don't need to include my Canadian spouse's passport information on this appendix A form? That it is ONLY meant to be filled out by applicants applying to be sponsored?
