My husband and I are permanent residents. Our baby was born outside of Canada and we are now applying for his Permanent Residence under the Family Class.

When I made the payment of the immigration fees I calculated as follows:

Immigration fees Family Class
Sponsorship application (per application) $75.00
Principal applicant, if less than 22 years of age and not a spouse or common-law partner (including a dependent child of the sponsor, a child to be adopted and an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew, or grandchild) $75.00
Total: $150
(according to https://eservicesak.cic.gc.ca/epay/order.do?lob=9)

However, I have just received the application back with a letter that I have not included sufficient fees because the fee for a minor principal applicant should be $550 ($75 sponsorship application plus $475 Principal applicant).

Step 3 of the guide doesn indeed not distinguish between principal applicants (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp#pay-fee) But the Online Payment page does (https://eservicesak.cic.gc.ca/epay/order.do?lob=9).

So what is correct?

I don't seem to be able to reach the CIC by phone because it's too busy. Anybody have experience with this?

Thanks for your help,

Michelle

My son was exempt from the PR fee and his 3 years old... In our case i was the PA and my son was my dependent so my husband paid him $150 for his application... but since your child is your PA below 22 years old $75 should be the right amount and the baby should be free from the PR fee... :)

Thanks for your reply, rozeky_ara. I thought as well, reading the above, that $75 should be the right amount. But I received my application back. So... did the person handling the application make a mistake? (I received it back from the Backlog Reduction Office in Vancouver) or am I overlooking something?

Anybody else have experience with this?
