My father was a Canadian citizen when I was born in the United States. He became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. years later. I am in the process of applying for my Certificate of Canadian Citizenship. I don't expect there to be any problem with the process. I have been able to locate originals or certified copies of all the required documents.

I live in Seattle and have been seriously thinking about retiring to Canada in a few years. Once I have obtained my Certificate of Citizenship and, subsequently, a Canadian passport, what is the process for moving over the border into British Columbia? Do I just load up my car and go, showing my passport at the border?

Or is there some other requirement of which I am not yet aware?

I think you need a customs declaration form (B4 I think, you can import your personal goods, but you need to declare them, from what I've read), but otherwise, yes. You show up with your Canadian passport and that's about it. Once you are in Canada, you'll need to apply for a SIN and health care. There's a waiting period for health care, so make sure you have insurance for that period (generally 3 months).
