Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hello

I wonder if there are any problems to tell the officer at the airport that I come to Canada in order to marry my Canadian girlfriend ?
I visited her 2x in November and January and stayed in total about 3 months. So I went to CA quite often and stayed quite long, more than the average tourist I assume.

Now we plan to finally get married on my next visit and file an outland sponsorship application.

My concerns are these:

- I have been to CA too often recently and stayed to long compared to a normal tourist, they might question my connection to my home country. I have a small business in my country and can proof ownership. That helps ?

- to marry basically means to stay inside the country and that's not valid reason to get a tourist visa for 3 or 6 months. In fact I want to stay ::)

So I really worry that next time I arrive in Toronto they wont let me in. What do you guys think ?

Thx,

Pummelchen

well dont mention you are getting married as they may deny u entry u can always say u are going for visit n if u happen to get married so be it

since u will be applying outland unless u r from a visam exempt country i assume u will be going back home unless u file an extension so u dont get out of status

i think when u send in ur visa extension app u are on implied status and u send in proof of ur pr appliclation hopefully u will be married n sponsor approved by then

First off, you better not tell them that your intention is to get married in Canada. You may say that you are visiting your girlfriend, friend, ect. Visiting is temporary, getting married is another topic- quite permanent, so don`t take a chance to get denied entry.
There is nothing like `normal tourist` time, you are from a visa exempt country and can stay for 6 months, unless the IO decides to give you a shorter timeframe.
You should show ties to your home country once you enter- your business helps, any lease, property ownership, letter from an employer with details of when they expect you to be back, paystops, proof of studies back home can help. If you entered Canada on several occassions make sure you carry as much evidence as you can with you as you might get selected to secondary inspection after a while. (Like myself- not fun.:( )

You can always extend your visitor visa once you are here. You get married, prepare the application for your PR and apply and you can apply for the extension with the receipt of PR fees and other supporting documents. Make sure that your PR application is sent before your visitor status is up and try to apply for the extension in time- they say 30 days ahead, but it is not really necessary, just make sure that CIC gets it before your visitor status would expire.
Apply outland, Berlin is much faster than inland and you can stay in Canada throughout the whole process. for some people I know it took less than 4 months- wish I could have applied through Berlin as well. :)

Good luck with your plans and do not stress to much, just be well prepared. Study the immigration process and how to apply and what do you need in advance as it is not 2 days to put it together.

I agree with the above: just don't tell them you are coming to Canada to get married. You're from Germany (right?), so don't need a visa. If you state you are coming to visit, the border official will almost certainly let you in.
Bring proof of ties to your home: proof of your business, an apartment lease or mortgage or property deed, a return ticket, money in the bank, etc. They probably won't ask to see it, but it is best to be prepared just in case.
