Hi Everyone.

I've received an invitation to apply for CEC late October and was in the process of completing all my files.

I have listed two items under my work experience; one is my current job here in Canada that I got after finishing school, and the other one is a job I had about 8 years ago, before coming to Canada for school, back in Istanbul.

This was a position that I worked for two years. I was paid irregularly in cash, and didn't have official records. So I have no pay stubs, no tax returns, basically nothing but their word to prove the experience. When I was creating my profile for the express entry, I confirmed with them about giving me an employment verification letter and recognizing this time as "full time."

Last week, I got a very concerning email from them, asking me not to use the employment verification letter that they have provided. Apparently, their lawyer got worried that they might get into trouble with their government - should the immigration ask for legal files about me and they are unable to provide.

However, my immigration consultant lawyer here says that Canada is not authorized to ask for private documents from other governments, and all they would do is a phone call.

My questions are:

1 - Who do I trust? I want to be %100 sure that they wouldn't get in trouble in any way before trying to convince them to let me use the employment verification letter they gave me.

2 - What process does the immigration go through to verify these old work experiences? What is keeping people from making up experiences and scamming them?

Please let me know! I'm on a very tight deadline with about 10 days left on my time to apply.

Thanks in advance.

You should consider how many points you got for the foreign employment.

If you remove it from work history and keep it in personal history you won't need the letter but you'll lose these points.

If after loose the points you still having at least the same points than the lower score receiving ITA (cut-off) in your draw you won't have any issues

But if your score after removing these points is lower that cut-off score your application will be rejected

So, do the mats, if you need the points keep the work experince, it's unlikely you or your former company could be in trouble

If you don't need the points, just remove the work experience
