My friends dad died suddenly. He was the primary applicant in the PR process. He applied through LMI. He also had his dependant child in the process. All of their processing were done and they were waiting for their COPR. Does anyone have any idea what will happen to their application? will the dependant child still be eligible for PR?

They are required to inform IRCC asap about the death and include the death certificate. Unfortunately the application will be refused without the father but they should really withdraw the application when they send proof of the death to IRCC. The mother can attempt to get a job offer if they can find an employer with approved LMIA. If the wife qualifies to apply for PR she can apply as well. The dependent can be included on the application if they are younger than 22 and not married. If they don’t inform IRCC their application can’t go ahead without the primary applicant submitting their passport for stamping and landing first or with the rest of the family. It’s unfortunate but the case of the points are associated Ruth the primary applicant.

Unfortunately this means the dependents will not be able to get PR.

The dependends will need to qualify and apply independently for PR through new applications.
