I have been in BC Canada for just about 2 years. I originally arrived just travelling but ended up meeting someone. We are going through the sponsorship process. Although our application has all been sent in since march 13 they have not started my application yet so I am currently having to renew my visitor status every 6 months. We found out I'm pregnant a few weeks back and now I realise I cant get health cover and the costs of having the baby are way too much for us to afford. I have phoned a place which helps new immigrants and phoned immigration and no one seems to be able to help me in my situation. I have come to the painful decision that I have no choice but to terminate my baby. Is their any other options available that anyone knows of?

You may be able to get health coverage once you have first stage approval from your application. Are you applying inland? Have you gone to MSP with your husband and discussed your options? You can order your case notes to find out what is going on with your case and your and your husband can visit your MP and ask if they can pull some strings to speed up your case.

If you do not get coverage, the cheapest option to have your baby would be using a midwife but if complications arise, you may end up with a hospital bill anyway.

Another option would be to travel somewhere else to have the baby. Either to your home country if you are still covered there or to another country where it would be less expensive. However, if you are applying inland and you leave Canada for a longer period or you leave for a short period and have a problem returning, you would lose your application and have to apply again outland.

What is MSP? How do I find out about the midwife service? We did call our local mp but he didn't offer anything, he told us to speak to another mp in a neighbouring town.
I have been given no idea from immigration when the first stage approval may be at the moment I haven't even received my letter of receipt! I don't think we even have case notes at this point.
I did consider returning to the UK to have the baby but I have applied for sponsorship from within Canada and they told me if I leave Canada then they may not allow me back in and I would have to redo my whole application from outside. My fiancée has 2 other teenagers and cant leave Canada plus he recently has had health issue's so we are also having to deal with that! Part of the issue is that realistically leaving Canada isn't really an option for me as I take care of the kids as my partner works away during the week, as I cant work yet he has to support us all.
I struggle a lot with trying to find the right information to help me, we couldn't afford immigration lawyers and neither of us have ever dealt with immigration stuff before so we are both really going in blind!

MSP is the provincial healthcare plan of BC and this is what I found in google:
