Pregnant Girlfriend Turning Wife

Hello all, just looking for a bit of advice on a few questions (sorry). Me (Canadian citizen) and my girlfriend (citizen of Philippines) soon to be wife, will be conducting a civil wedding this April 15, 2023 where she will be 6 months pregnant by than, the plan is to have the baby here I am aware that we need travel insurance for medical expenses (but baby delivery will not be covered).
She has finally received her Travel Visa (2 years on that front) she will be arriving on March 28, 2023 on her visitor visa.
Questions are
1. What difficulties could she face when arriving in Canada (could immigration decline her entry)?
2.What supporting documents does she need to bring if they question her stay and financial viability? (I of course will be covering all aspects of the financial requirements).
3. Travel visa allows 6 months stay with verification of return flight with the pregnancy what return date do we put on the ticket?
4. Do we request to extend visa and start spousal visa application once civil wedding is completed?

A lot of questions I know any advice and information would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of questions I know any advice and information would be greatly appreciated.

1. Whether someone is allowed into Canada or not is always up to CBSA. Because of that, it's really impossible for any of us to tell you what will happen. Will you be traveling with her? How much can you show in funds to pay for the costs related to the pregnancy? She will certainly want to show a return ticket. I would carry evidence that shows ties to her home country if possible but only show this if specifically asked for this information. If she is visibly pregnant when she arrives, this could potentially cause CBSA to ask more questions (or it might not - again, really impossible for any of us to say).
2. Ideally she should be able to show funds of her own. Will you be traveling with her or will she be traveling alone?
3. That's a hard question to answer because she is pregnant. I'm not sure I can answer that, apart to say she needs a return ticket.
4. Depends how long a visit she is given when she enters Canada.

Thanks for the response to answer your questions.
No I will not be travelling with her she will be alone, based on funds ... well it will be myself as primary provider.
We will submit a return tickted dated probably September 15, that would allow her 5.5 month stay on her 6 month max length on visa.

When it comes to foreign travellers especially becauseYou aren‘t married her finances will be examined first. It is impossible for anyone to guess whether she will be refused entry because she is pregnant. It is something that you will have to consider. Was IRCC aware she was pregnant when she applied for the TRV?

No her travel visa was approved after pregnancy as a result of 2 year visa wait ( thanks covid) we made a Philippines endeavour and well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was IRCC aware of the pregnancy was what I was truly asking?

No they are not aware. We got pregnant after travel visa was approved.

The fact that she is pregnant would have likely changed the outcome of the TRV application so it is impossible to know whether it will be an issue.

Have you looked into what is required to have a baby here without coverage? Do Doctors take on such patients regularly? Do you have enough funds should something go wrong like requiring an emergency c section or something which is a common occurrence. I beleive there maybe threads in this forum on this topic i would research them if you have not already.

in my opinion if someone is that close to the end of the pregnancy it can be seen as a major red flag where the visitor plans to have the child in canada. She may be required to show her proof of coverage and plan of action.

Whether OBs and hospital take patients for prenatal without provincial healthcare varies by doctor and hospital. If you show up at the emergency room in labour they are forced to care for you. Prices vary by province and even by hospital. As a private patient there isn’t a uniform fee schedule.
