Hey,

Firstly, congratulations on getting the passport back with the visa & COPR! Secondly, great job with starting this spreadsheet/thread dude.. I shall be landing meself on the 8th of April, so it helps me considerably too. =)

Just a little question/point.. I read somewhere on the forum, that one's SIN is also being issued at the airport, along with the PR Card application. This was information to me to be honest, since I thought one has to go to a Services office to get it issued.. Could you please confirm/check.

Would be interesting to hear the experience and what was needed from someone coming from the USA to Canada.

If you are flying in there are Service Canada desks in the immigration section of the airport, well at least there is in Toronto and Vancouver..

I didn't see one in Ottawa, but I wasn't really looking either since I didn't want to do another stop after immigration and customs. But regardless it's no big deal...I went in the next day to a Service Canada office in my town and took care of it.

Thanks for the info guys.

Yup, I am flying into Toronto.. I guess it isnt really a big deal, and I could just get it made from Service Canada by going to the center. Or if I get through immigration smoothly, could just get it done at the airport.

In any case, no big deal! =)

Im working on listing my things to claim without tax... I had few questions:-
1) As this would be my first landing, I am thinking to go for 5 days, is this enough as I am going to request for posting my PR to my friend?
2) My dad is planning on gifting me a property in Canada, what is the process for this would I have to declare in the first landing itself? How easy is it to buy a property in Canada and is the tax rate the same for PR Holders?
3) I have a property which I would be selling off but not now, maybe after I settle in Canada and would invest this amount in Canada, how do i show this amount?
4) If I shop more after my landing and it is not part of my listing would that be taxed?
5) Also, if i receive gifts after my landing and would take it to Canada would that be taxed?
6) Which bank is better to open an account in?
7) When is the right time to sponsor my parents?
