What do you mean by "temporary old card"? How are you coming back? Are you coming back as a worker? PR?

Do you have your WP now? You get a new SIN card (same number) when you enter Canada and had obtained your WP. Service Canada will issue you under the name that appears on the WP and same validity as the WP.

You'll be starting to count anew (24 months in 4 years). So once you get your visa and enter Canada, you'll get your WP at the POE (which I am sure you know), go to Service Canada and get your new SIN (same number, validity co-terminus with your WP.
