Hi All,

A question that has been eating at me since I applied for my wife: I attempted to sponsor her for a TRV twice (before and after marriage). She was denied on both accounts, mainly due to her financial status. As a result, our only option was to apply for a PR, despite her never having been here before.

Has anyone had any problems with getting PR status for a spouse who has never been to Canada before?

Thanks!

Here are thousand of people on this forum that have sponsored wives that have never been in Canada. As long as u have a genuine relationship..there is nothing to worry about. but why didnt u sponsor her in the beginning? why did u try to apply for TRV?

I applied for a TRV first, thinking that it was just common sense to visit a country before you commit to living there permanently. I was naïve to the fact that Canada has double standards when it comes to visitors from poorer countries...

Thanks for the reply! It's good to know I'm not alone!
