PR VISA validity

Hi guys,

I got PPR and planning to submit the passport - just planning upfront - can someone tell me for how long PR VISA is valid for ? Me and my spouse already have TRV till Feb 2015 so in case my PR VISA expires before that (if its validity is less than or equal to 6 months) - can I still travel to Canada and get my PR.

Also, when we land, the Immigration refers the PR VISA only or we are issued any other paper or PR related document.

The expiry of your PR visa is usually tied to the expiry of your medical. You will have to see how long you get when you receive your visa. You must land before the expiration if your PR visa if you want to become a PR. No - if your PR visa expires before your TRV you cannot use your TRV to travel to Canada and become a PR. You must land before the expiry of your PR visa.

But when you said expiry of Medical - I did my Medicals in May 2014 which says valid for 1 yr and my wife did Oct 2013 and it means it will be Valid till Oct 2014.... and in that case we might be getting PR VISA till that date i.e. Oct 2014

There are no alternatives. You either land in Canada before the PR visa expires - or you don't become a PR.

Keep in mind that you don't have to move to Canada immediately. You just have to come to Canada to activate your PR visas. You can then return to your home country and move to Canada permanently at a later date. But again, you MUST land in Canada before the expiry of your PR visas.
