Hello,

I would like to have my PR status renounced, since there is no way to save it, it expired long time ago...
Can anybody tell me how long does this process take? Also, I have another problem with this, in order to submit this request I need to enter any of the following numbers, the number on my record of landing, confirmation of permanent residence or permanent resident card... My permanent resident card has been stolen , can't find the landing papers and not sure what confirmation of permanent residence is. Now I am stuck, have no idea how to get this sorted out... Thank you for your help...
I already explained my situation in another post, since I am not allowed to use links, I am copying the whole post...

Hello,

I hope you can help me with this...
I am a Croatian citizen and I am I am in need of a legal advice... I understand that my case might be more complicated so I am sharing all the facts that might have an impact to my situation...
I received a PR status back in 2008 together with my wife (she was the main applicant) when we moved to Canada... Few months later we decided to temporarily leave the country with the intention to come back once we saved more money... Our relationship didn't go well and we separated... I reentered Canada in 2010 and when asked I admitted that me and my wife were no longer together... I left the country again a month later and haven't returned since... My PR status expired but officially it has never been revoked... My wife returned to Canada back in 2011 in order to preserve her PR status, and she has lived in Toronto since...
We would like to get together again and now we are looking for the easiest way to make it happen... I understand that most probably I will have to be sponsored again and re-apply in order to renew my PR status... I have a very old grandmother with a physical disability that I did have to take care of, but I am not sure if that could be taken as a good justification for my absence... I could provide medical documentation for my grandma but there is no way I could prove my assistance, I don't even know how that would be possible... I believe this would be a long way to repair my status even if there was a chance (I guess reapplying for PR would be a quicker way)
How do I reenter the country in order to visit my wife, I am planning to visit my wife soon but I am not sure if there is anything else to be done beforehand? My PR status has never been officially revoked and I can't come to Canada as a tourist, I am not sure if showing up with my expired PR would worsen my situation in any way, and would I be let in at all???...
If you can help me understand what I have to/can do in my situation that would be great... Thanks a lot...

When you fill out the form for entries that you do not have info for type in 'unknown'. The main things to ensure are your full name as per passport and date of birth and passport number. If you do not have the passport number from your original PR application use your current passport number. For the landed date if you not sure of exact day then put just month/year.

Follow the instructions to attach a passport photo and also a scan of the biometric pages of your passport and also attach a letter of explanation for the fields where you have entered 'unknown'.
As for processing time cannot see anything published so should assume I guess a few weeks.

An alternative which some people have used when they forgot they had PR and have not met residency but applied for an ETA anyway would be apply for an ETA, get rejected with 3 options, apply for a PRTD which would get refused anyway , renounce PR or withdraw ETA application. This approach could be quicker as can link the ETA application through MYCIC and upload a renounce online through MYCIC, then might only be a week or so with an approved ETA as confirmation renounce and you will need an ETA anyway once no longer PR as assume a Croatian passport holder.

Having said all that as per your other posts explore all options to not give up PR in first place if at all possible as you are still entitled to enter as a PR albeit not by air without a PR card or PRTD just you may get reported of course but actually being revoked will take quite some time and there are always appeals even though need a solid case for success there which not sure you have.
