Hello gurus,

I have a question: I am Canadian PR and not lived in Canada for many days. It's already elapsed 2+ years on PR. I am stuck outside of Canada for some personal reasons.

What are chances for my PR renewal, if I not stayed many days as per requirement ? Can request for another 5 years extensions ?

If I decided re-apply, does I qualify in the future like express entry or other province nominee programs.

Any suggestions that helps me a lot.

Thank you all well in advance.

Once you have spent 3 years outside Canada after getting your PR card, you are in violation of the residency obligation (to spend minimum 2 of every 5 years in Canada).

If you don't meet RO but your card is not yet expired, you can attempt to return to Canada with your PR card. At the airport, you may or may not be reported by CBSA for being in violation of RO. If not reported, then you would stay in Canada 2 years then renew your card. If you are reported, you will have PR revoked unless you have some humanitarian & compassionate reason (such as caring for a sick family member) that CIC accepts.

If your PR card expires while you're outside Canada and you don't hold a visa-exempt passport, you would need to apply for a PR Travel Document to travel back to Canada and renew your PR card. You would again need to show some H&C reason that you weren't able to meet the RO . If they accept your H&C claim you can go back to Canada and renew your card. If they don't accept it, your PR is revoked.

If your PR status is revoked, you can certainly try to apply again for any PR programs that you qualify for at the time.
