PR rolling period

Dear all
I became a PR in November 2019 and left early December 2019, due to covid and family matter I will return to Canada in November 2020 (next month). My question is, eventhough I will be able to apply for citizenship before needing to renew my PR but if I wanted to apply for PR renewal, given that my PR card expires in November 2024, does staying until January 2025 negate 2 months from my absence??
In other words is waiting 2 months after it has expired and before renewing my PR card allowed? If yes will waiting 2 months add 2 months to my presence?.

Yes, beginning in November 2024 your RO becomes a rolling period looking back at the previous five years, so if you applied for a renewal in January 2025 the reference period would be January 2020 to 2025. However, if you're only gone from December 2019 to November 2020, as you said you'll likely be a citizen by that time.

I guess if that's how you want to think about it, yes. After the first five years, the only days relevant to an RO calculation are those within the five years immediately preceding the reference date.

I am sorry may I ask will being absent for almost a year straight and then a couple of months in the future maybe for vacations so probably a total of a year and a half absence affect my application by any means?? (Both citizenship and PR renewal)
