I recently applied for the PR renewal, however until they asked me for the proof of dates for my travel history that I realized I entered the wrong date. It turns out I am 5 months short of the "2 years out of 5 years" obligation. I want to tell them that it was all an accident and that I will reapply for the renewal when I meet the requirement. However I don't know if they will think i am lying on purpose and take away my pr status. Any suggestion as to how I can fix this problem? Thank you very much.

You can withdraw your application and reapply when you meet RO, just explain situation in the letter...if you want

You can withdraw your application without a reason if you want to. The other option would be not to respond to them and hope they will consider your application as abandoned and stop investigating.

Thank you for your reply, but are you sure about this? Cuz I heard that when you fill out a withdrawal form you need to provide a reason.

There is no form that I know of and they do say you should write a reason but you can be vague like "personal reasons" or similar so that's really not giving a specific reason to why you want to withdraw it. They also say that they can refuse to withdraw it if they feel they have interests in continuing it (such as if you were to admit that you don't meet the RO after all) but I have heard of people withdrawing very late as they were in your shoes with the application at the local office being examined and their withdrawals still being accepted.

How do I withdraw my Permanent Resident Card Application?

First, find out if you can get a refund. If you still wish to withdraw your application, contact CIC by mail:

General Mailing Address
CPC-PR Card Centre
P.O. Box 10020
Sydney, Nova Scotia
B1P 7C1
Courier Address
CPC-PR Card Centre
49 Dorchester Street
Sydney, Nova Scotia
B1P 5Z2
Note: if your Permanent Resident Card application has already been transferred to a local Citizenship and Immigration Canada office, you must send your withdrawal request there.

Please write “Withdrawal of Application” on the envelope and include the following information:

Your name;
Your date of birth;
Your address;
The date the application was sent;
Your client ID number (if available);
A copy of the electronic payment receipt or a copy of both sides of the payment receipt (Form IMM5401); and
The reason for the withdrawal.
We recommend that you keep a copy of your withdrawal request for your personal records.

Please note that the office can refuse a withdrawal request if the processing of the application is advanced enough for CIC to have a valid interest in seeing the case run through to completion.
