Hi,

My mother is a Canadian and my father is a permanent resident. Unfortunately, he was rejected from his citizenship as he could not fulfil his physical presence in Canada. My parents are now residing outside Canada. As he is employed there and not residing in Canada, will his PR status be effected? Will he be able to travel to Canada with his PR card?

I am also a Canadian Citizen and willing to sponsor my spouse to Canada. Currently, I am outside of Canada. I have plans to return to Canada once my husband gets PR. Will there be any concerns in sponsoring my spouse? Are there any specific requirements?

Your father keeps his PR status even though he is living outside of Canada as long as he is living with his wife, a Canadian citizen. These days don't count for citizenship though.

You can apply to sponsor your spouse while residing outside Canada because you are a Canadian citizen. You will have to include proof in the application that you will be returning to Canada to live once your spouse gets PR.

I have read online about the proof required can be an employment contract, a job offer letter in Canada, a letter stating to be in any Canadian school or owning a property.

"My parents own a property and not me". I and my husband intend to stay there once my husband gets the PR. Will this be a good proof that I can give in the application? Kindly advise.

Your parents should write a letter or affidavit stating you two will be living in their house when you move back. This is part of the proof you will need.

Ok Thanks my parents can do that and one more question I have.

I am currently outside Canada with my husband, though he is working and I am not working. Being a sponsor, is it necessary for me to have a job because one of the site does mention its not necessary.

No, only in specific circumstances does a financial criteria apply. In general, so long as you are not collecting welfare, you meet the economic requirements.

As I am applying from outside of Canada, I am going to give evidence of my parent's property that once my husband gets PR we can stay in their house in Canada. My parents can give me a letter or affidavit as you had said in the earlier reply.

My question is, will that only evidence be enough for me to show in the spousal application? Or do I need to show more evidence to make my application strong? Do I need to get a job or admission in school or something?

Please advise.
