Hi I am currently PR since June 2009 and i migh have to move out of Canada for 2 years.

My question is this I owne a home in canada and if i lose my PR status how this is going to work?

Thanks for your expert opinions in advance.

You can always rent out your home in Canada while you are overseas. Remember to file your tax return.

For PR, you need to stay in Canada for 730 days in a 5 year period. By the end of the 5 year period, you can renew your PR card

Thanks for the reply

if i dont complete 730 days in canada and leave then what will happen to land and home which i own?

You can continue keep it (rent it out in arm's length or non arm's length or leave it vacant) until you want to sell it.

Moving out of Canada for 2 years is not long enough to lose your PR status. You would have to be away for 3 years + for that to happen. If you did lose your PR status, you will still own your home. You do not have to be PR to own a home in Canada. You would be able to stay in your home when you visit Canada or rent it out or sell it.

thank you very much for the replies and clearing out my doubts

now the next question

i am going to join a global company which has significant business operations in Canada also
if i opt to get hired by Canadian branch and leave country will it help me?

If you are working for a Canadian employer in Canada and they transfer you to another country, your PR is protected even if you don't meet the residency requirements. They are strict though in their definition of what is a Canadian employer and who qualifies for this. If it looks like you planned your employment in order to be able to stay outside Canada and keep your PR, they might not like that very much.

Thanks guys for the much needed help.
