Hi Inlanders.
I Submmited My application in April 16th and they started processing my Application on June 29th. Since then it appears "In Process" I haven't received any letter so far from them, and it's been almost 3 months from the moment they started processing it.
Yesterday I received a very sad call from one of my sisters back in Dominican and she told me doctors have told my family that my dad is in a terminal phase of his sickness and he could last from from 2 months to a few more. He has a liver decease and his blood counts are in 32,000. If he gets sick even by a flu that could take him away from us.
I'm wondering if any of you know if its possible for me to get a special permission to go see my dad even in the PR Process. I know its a big risk to just go not even knowing if they would allow you in, I have a visa extension for a year till next april 2011, but it says clearly that dosen't allow me to leave the country or work and I don't want to take the risk of having to be separated from my husband and start a new process outland.
Has someone had a similar situation than me? Is there an exception that CIC would do if I have a proof on my dad's condition. I don't think My application will be done any sooner that January 2011 and I don't know if that would be too late :(

I am assuming you are applying inland!

If so I was in the same position, I applied December 2009 (Inland) We were doing well until I get a call from my mum that Dad has Kidney cancer (this was May 2010) I am an only child so you can imagine what was going through my mind, I spoke to my mum every other day until the July when I booked a flight home and to hell with it all! However I did phone up CIC, and they told me wha I needed to travel with in order to stand the best chance of 'getting back in'
A copy of my fiances passport
A copy of my fiancees driving licence showing the same address as me
My TRV (expiry Feb 2011)
A copy of my rent agreement
My credit cards
A bank statement
A letter from my dads doctor explaining the situation

I came back to Canada in the August I basically emptied my folder on the immigration counter, and explained that I would need to leave again soon. They were understanding.

I am back in the UK at the moment and I have the same documents, fingers crossed!!!!
The thing that swayed them most was the doctors letter and the TRV.
Dress nicely, anad be humble. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you. I am going back soon, my dad is 'on the mend' , well, as much as you can be with Renal Cancer.
Good Luck.

Hi Potcakes. Yes I'm applying inland.

I'm very sorry for your dad, and will have him in my prayers as well as my dad so they dont suffer much and you can get back in Canada with no major problems this second time around. Its so relieving to hear from your experience and I'll do totally the same as you recommend me. I can get all those papers photocopied right away. Did you phone just the regular CIC phone 1-888-242‑2100? I dont have a TRV, I just have a Extended Visitor Record (Valid thru April 2011) and it states "This does not authorize re-entry" does your document states the same?
How's your process coming along? You applied so long ago and still haven't received the PR? You probably are expecting it any time soon right? How is it been for you the whole process? When did you first hear from vegreville, after sending your application?

Thanks for your great help, it gives me hope that I could be Allright if I decide to go see him in the next upcoming months or before christmas (it all depends on his condition).

Hope your dad continues recovering. Never loose faith. Hugs,

I am so sorry to hear about both of your fathers. I too find myself in a similar situation, within a few weeks of sending an application for my partner to sponsor me I found out my father has a rare form of abdominal cancer (so rare they are still in search of a surgeon who knows how to correctly proceed). I live just across the border in the US and I am certain I will need to visit him in the future. I am currently in Canada as a student but the idea of going back and forth over the border (potentially multiple times) while my app. is in process makes me nervous.
Thanks for the advice, and I wish both of your fathers the best of luck and send my good vibes in their direction.

Hi There,
My Document says the same 'does not authorize re entry' But it seemed to work with the IO. My paperwork came through a couple of days ago, so my fiance has scanned it and emailed it to me to I will print it off. Typical eh, nothing happens for ages then it all happens at once so I have my workpermit, and my AIP. Hopefully this will work with Immigration. I didn't hear from Vegreville till my fiance got a phone call a week ago making sure the address was right. Sorry I have just re read this, it sounds all a jumble, I am so tired. As long as you make it clear that its not 2 weeks on a beach, you should be ok, just as a precaution I have got return tickets! I am coming back to the UK at christmas too, however this time I am bringing my other half with me.
AAARRRGGGHHHHH. there I have let it all out. Good luck with all the sick dads! Warm fuzzy cyber thoughts to you both.

Hi Potcakes!
I'm so happy for you! Great news that you got all your papers, that's awesome! Now you don't have to worry about anything else and you can start your life in Canada with no limits and live Happily ever after :) haha
I'm truly happy and wish you the best to you, your husband and dad.
I will always be grateful for your response to my question and will keep in touch to let you know how's it going with me.
Take care,

Hi Teriskier,

I'm very sorry to hear about your dad too, and hope that he dosen't suffer much with that form of cancer. The recommendation that Potcakes gave us will be very valuable for both of us. Thanks for your good wishes.
