Hi

I came to Canada on September 2008 and I want to know whether i can apply for the permanent residence. I did my MBA (14 months Program) and now I am working . I went through different websites and talk to many friends and each time I found something different .I want also to know whether a lawyer can do something for me ( speed the process , or help me get it in another way ).

Thank you in advance
Regards
:)

Hi,

Yes you can apply for PR. The question is through which class. It looks like you do not qualify for the CEC since you do not have 2 years (16 months) full time study and one year work experience; or 2 years work experience in Canada. Since you are now working, assuming your employer can guarantee you a permanent job once you get PR, the Federal Skilled Worker (Arranged Employment) class should be good for you. You also must meet a few other minimum requirements to qualify: See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

The definite class where you qualify to apply is the Federal Skilled Worker Class on the basis of having been living in Canada legally (as a student) for one year.

A lawyer can give you immigration advice and guidance but your application will not be processed faster nor will it be given any special attention
