My second PR card is going to be expired on May 14, 2017. I plan to start staying in Canada for two continuous years from May, 2016. to get a second renewal. Before May, 2016, I have been in Canada for very short time (around two months) for this second 5 years period. Therefore, there will be about 1 year, that I have to stay in Canada and go nowhere.
A lawyer of mine said that when I apply for my third PR card, the immigration office might check my absent list for every 5 year period, not only the 5 year period from the date of application. Is it true? I never heart any case of this kind happened before.
I got married in 2010 in China and have 3 kids. I was planning to apply for family sponsorship. However, I gave up after done some research. It might affect my current PR status. All my kids are holding Hong Kong passports, and my wife has Antigua passports. All of them are visa-exempted. In theory, they can just register eTA on cic website and visit Canada freely. My question is that, will they be refused to enter Canada because of possible immigration-related purpose when the border officer finds that their father (my wife's husband) is a PR in Canada?
what if the kids get offers from schools in Canada, will they are fine to get study permits?
This is quite important to me. If they cannot visit me in Canada, I don't think I can stay in Canada myself that long.
