Hi,

My uncle and auntie immigrated to Canada last year. After 3.5 months they went back to the country where both are currently employed. Now they are planning to come back in around September live for 4 months ~ and then they will go back. Some one told them that if you live outside of Canada when you are PR holder for more then 6 months then their PR card would be revoked. Now they are worried and don't know what to do? I want to make sure that is this right ?

I know i told them that to continue PR they MUST reside in CANADA for 3 years out of 5. So they are planning to move to finally to Canada by the end of 2012.

any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

You have the rules somewhat confused.

1. There is no six month rule. This rule used to exist years ago - it doesn't any more.

2. To retain PR status, they must live in Canada for 2 (not 3) out of every 5 rolling years.

3. To qualify to apply for citizenship, they must live in Canada for 3 of the last 4 years.

Hope this helps.
