PR Application transferred to Nova Scotia

I submitted my application for PR under skilled worker category in May 2008. My NOC is not on the list. However, my application status shows that the file has been transferred to Nova Scotia…..they may contact you.

What does it mean? Is there anyone out there with similar experience?

I am in a similar situation. I sent my FSW application package with all the necessary documents on 14th November to the Buffalo consulate before the new rules came out. I have 74 points under the old system. I received a letter from the consulate dated March 18th with an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR). The letter said that they have received my application package and it will be reviewed for eligibility under the new ministerial instructions before a decision is made. My occupation is included in the list of 38 occupations.They cashed the money order I sent them and sent me a receipt. Is anyone in a similar situation as mine? Has anyone received any further notification on their application? I'm trying to check my status online with the client status number provided in the AOR letter but it doesn't pull up my record. Any reasons for this? Kindly reply.

You have both been put under the new rules. The new rules were applied to applications made since February 27, 2008 even though the new rules were not posted until Noveber 28. Somewhere on the CIC website, it was posted that the new rules apply to these applications but at that point, nobody knew what they would be.

Sponge09: If your occupation is not in the list of 38 and you did not have an AEO and you are not in Canada for 12 months, then you don't qualify for any category under the new rules so most likely your application and fees will be returned to you and you have to find another way if you want to apply.

fl_gnv: Since your occupation is in the list of 38, that means you qualify under the new rules so they will continue to process your file and let you know if you have to provide some further info.

The online system isn't always accurate when you are trying to check your application. I am not certain that it's updated on a regular basis. I know for my own citizenship application, it was not getting updated and was showing some discrepancies in dates.

My status shows that my application transferred to the Sydney, Nova Scotia - C-50 office on March 24, 2009. The Sydney, Nova Scotia - C-50 office may contact you.

I checked the 38 List, I didn't find my NOC 2133, But my main duties that i mentioned in FSW related and similar to 2145 Petroleum Engineers which is listed in 38.

So there is any chance :-( ?? Any help ??

I don't imagine they go through applications with a fine tooth comb to try to make you fit into the 38 but if they refuse you, you could try to apply again under the other NOC.

Could I send them Another FSW Application with addittional offical papers Showing them that my Duties Fit With 2145 Petroleum Engineers.

Yes, if they return this one, go for the other NOC.

I think they are gonna refuse me without looking to my duties.
and at the same time, I don't want to wait till they refuse me.

I will try to be Poistive and send them another FSW .. But they are gonna add it to my file or you don't think ??

Could you tell me how someone living outside Canada can get AEO? Are Canadian employers willing to hire professional people from outside? Do staffing company or recruiting agents in Canada assist professionals from outside in getting jobs? Are there companies in Canada that assist professionals in getting AEOs?

If a company can easily get the staff they need in Canada, they have no reason to hire somebody from the outside. You can get lucky and find somebody who needs your skills and is having a hard time finding someone locally. There are employment agencies and consultants but none of them can promise success. In most provinces, they are not allowed to charge you to get you a job, they charge the employer but they can charge you for other things like updating your CV or something.

Some agents are in the business of selling AEO's. They might charge you $5,000 or more and then they get an employer to apply for your AEO and maybe give him some of the money for his trouble. However, there is still no guarantee of success, the AEO may be refused if CIC doesn't believe it's real or the agent might just be scamming you and may run away with your money.

Do you, by any chance, know any reliable staffing agency/recruiting agent in Canada who provides services to professionals from outside? Or, is there any efficient way to find an employer who can arrange either AEO or work permit?

Regarding AEO, I am interested in only real one only. But as you said there is greater risk of being scammed.

Other members, who could also give useful inputs on this subject, are also requested to post their comments.

If you could manage to find an employer directly through internet search for example and talk to them and convince them to apply for your AEO, that would be the best way.

I have read many comments on AEO, however I still cannot figure out what would make an employer to offer someone (a professional) an AEO.

Even if there is no opening available at present, can an employer offer you an AEO? I mean, what are the factors (other than experience and skills) that would lead you to getting an AEO from Canadian employers?

Do all companies in Canada—small size to big ones—know all about AEO? Do I have to explain it to them?
