I was thinking if anyone can help with my situation. I am a Canadian citizen willing to sponsor my wife who is Citizen of India and was deported from UK 15 years ago. I would like to know how will that impact her Application for Permanent Residence to Canada!? and what can I do about that!? Would appreciate if anyone can give his/her expert advice. Thanks!

Provided she fully declares the deportation and any other refusals, no effect.

Thanks Canuk_in_uk for your advice … I was looking at her old passport; she has no travel out of India after July 2008 (which is almost 10 years ago to Phillipines) and she did not overstay in Phillipines.

On the same old passport she travelled to UK twice. First time she travelled in May 2001 she came back in time. On her second visit to UK in July 2003; she was supposed to be back by September 2003 but she overstayed and was deported in 2006. Comment on her passport says; "Was Served with IS151A at MEU in 4/2/06" Any idea what this means!? I asked her what did she do this long until 2006 when her visa was expired in 2003? She told she worked under someone else's ID (or I should say fake ID) and paid taxes until she was caught and deported in 2006. So, I know on form IMM5669 SCHEDULE A she has to answer "Yes" to Question#4 (e) which says "Have you 'ever' been ordered to leave any country!?" but what about Question#4 (j) which asks "Have you 'ever' been detained, incarcerated, or put in jail?" She said she was not in jail. Being overstay for couple weeks may not be a serious offence but being overstay for 3 years living, working an paying taxes there under a different name; does not it sound like serious offence? Would this still have no effect on her Permanent Residence application!? I am a full fledged Canadian settled in Ontario for over 26 years, working here as engineer.... can not go live in India with her. Some more opinion/advice will be appreciated. Thanks!
