Hello to everyone,
Me and my spouce have a PR application going throught rome. It was received on March 14 2014! We are both in Canada now and we would like to stay here together. Of course he isn't working right now but i work since i am a canadia cirizen by birth and also all my family is here who is hepling us. He is allowed in the country till August 3. We were told to aply for a toustist visa extension. My question is: What is his chances to get approved for another 4-6 months? Has anyone here been throught this process? Thank you all so much!

from what i've read it's pretty easy to do and there is a very low chance for PR applicants to get denied. It *might* depend on where the applicant is from? I don't know that for sure.

People typically request 6-12 additional months with no issue. CIC may give the full amount requested, or may not. It's recommended to apply at least 30 days before the end of the current visit and costs $100.

My wife is from China and asked for 1 yr extension and got it so you shouldnt have a problem.

I would definitely recommend that he request a year for his extension. With a PR app in process and proof of sufficient funds, there is little chance of him being refused. He should include a copy of the sponsorship approval email and copies of your pay slips. He could also include a letter from your family offering to help support him.
