Hi, so received ITA for the PR a few weeks ago and am working on the application.
My common-law partner is a Canadian citizen so I specified that on the application and said she was not accompanying me. This was based on numerous things I read saying this is the correct answer if the partner is a Canadian citizen living in the States because they can come and go as they please.
However, I still needed to provide information on her under the "Unaccompanying, PR Spouse Form" portion of the application. At any rate, it asks about other names. She used to be married and was divorced in 2005, so her last name is back to her maiden name. The options were the following:
Birth
Nickname/alias
Name before Marriage
Former name
Son/Daughter of
Other
I picked "Former name" because it seemed the most appropriate; however, it now wants proof of name change. She doesn't have a document saying specifically "I was married, then divorced, and changed my name back to my maiden name." She does have the marriage certificate and divorce paperwork.
Anyway, I am wondering if I selected the correction option? Or if I should even bother adding this since she is back to her maiden name? Also, what does Canada accept as proof?
