Hello all

I got my LMIA approved. My employer will proceed with application for Work Visa.
Is it possible to apply for PR right after I move to Canada? In express entry or some other category?

Thanks

i might be wrong here...but i think with your LMIA, you can proceed now, you dont have to wait for your working permit, thats an additional 600 points to be added and that would most bump you up to be considered for ITA. it will be like a job offer with LMIA approved, however your employer will need to provide the job offer and other relevant documentation if needed.

depends if your LMIA is dual intent (PR and WP)

If so, you can start creating EE profile and use LMIA to guarantee a spot in the next draw

You can apply for PR at any time (with or without LMIA, before or after moving to Canada). Please note LMIA will give you 600 points for Express Entry, but LMIA alone does not guarantee that you're eligible for any of EE immigration programs. You need to check each program and see if you're eligible for it.

thanks for everyone who replied.

I don't want to apply before I move to Canada because my employer is handling all the visa processing. I don't want to disturb that process and create any issues between myself and my employer. this is why I want to wait till I get to Canada and then apply for PR.

Thanks again every one for all the answers.

If you prefer to wait, that is fine too.

Once you are in Canada you can create your profile, get your langauge exam, ECA and the additional 600 points from LMIA guarantee that you are always chosen in the next draw anyway.

So you might as well get all your paperwork, employment letters and so on in order because you know you wont have long to wait for ITA afterwards.
