Hello all,

I have recently completed a masters degree here in Canada and I am attempting to apply for the post-graduate work permit. I understand to do so I must submit a letter of completion or transcipt from my university (Carleton) to attach to the application. I am however behind on tuition payments and as a result the Carleton is unwilling to provide any such documentation. While I should have the outstanding balance payed by 17th Sept, my current study permit ends on Sept 10th. I am currently in talks with Carleton to see if an exception can be made but I would like to know if there are any alternatives to consider or if overstaying for a few days will be an significant issue.

Another alternative I considered is to submit the permit application with older unofficial transcripts and an academic audit and in the event that is not sufficient it may at least buy time to obtain the documents from Carleton and resubmit/appeal the application outcome.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Thanks,
Senah

You need to have a valid study permit while applying for PGWP so if you apply late it should be rejected.

Your other idea no one can know the outcome off, it should also be rejected since you didn't provide the correct docs. By the time it gets rejected you would be out of study permit and would need to file for restoration/new sp/ PGWP again, this creates all sorts of issues, expenses & timing.

Also you would have no legitimate grounds for appeal and might need an expensive lawyer.

Hi

You will not qualify for a PGWP without a valid study permit, so apply to extend it before it expires. Explain that you need the extension because you are waiting on graduation proof to apply for the PGWP; I suggest not mentioning that it is because you haven't paid tuition on time.
