hi

I am a postdoc and I applied cec. I just realized that I added a copy of my contract as they suggested, but this letter states that ''this contract does not create an employer/employee relation'' between me and the institute.
i was issued t4as however i paid taxes for my postdoc salary, i sent the paystubs and notice of assessment. I have zero benefits.

after reading older posts here i am really worried as this looks like the perfect recipe for rejection

anyone here successfully applied cec having only t4a?

for other postdocs here does your contract state anything about your employment status or employer-employee relation?

thanks a lot for your help

I am a postdoc at UofT. I receive T4A as well. tax is not dedicated. I applied in May. I did not send my work contract because it basically says you are not employee of University of XXX. I sent pay slips, reference letter, work permit, tax assessment.

I do not have good information for postdocs. Other postdocs with T4 had their PR approved.

hi ggalex

thank you for your reply.
yes i should not have sent the contract copy, only after reading here i realized that it can be deleterious.

good luck with your application, I hope you get MR soon!

Hi ggalex,
I think you have made a good comment for postdocs regarding sending the contract. We should not send contract. Checklist #10 says "you may include copies of work contracts and pay stubs" as additional documents. So, I also think contract letter is not compulsory.
Even in my new contract I could not see any NOC No. In my earlier contract it was mentioned(NOC 4122) I still didn't understand the impact of T4 or T4A?
Recently i got a letter of reference from University it state that:
"This is to cinfirm that Dr. XX YY is a full-time postdoctoral fellow with ZZZ department. Dr. XX commenced with The University of AA on xx May 2010 and his present contract end on xx April 2013. His current gross salary is $yyyy monthly.
The foregoing represents the current situation but does not constitute any future commitment. Sincerely, abc, Payroll operation."

I am doubting
(i) it doesn't mention in the ref letter about the main responsibilities and duties in the postdoc position.
(ii) NOC
Any one can make comments seeing the above letter whether it is sufficient as letter of reference or not OR something is missing.
Thanks
CS

The ref letter should be written by your supervisor using letter headed paper. There you can specify duties (80% should match with your chosen NOC), benefits, time of contract, working hours (100 hours a week for post doc ;) ), full time works, and everything asked in CEC guide... Make it short and precise. You don't have to write the NOC code on the ref letter
