Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice about extending my visitor record in Canada. I came to Canada in September 2024 on a tourist visa and was initially allowed to stay for six months. I then applied for an extension of about 3–4 months, but IRCC granted me a one-year visitor record instead. Altogether, I have now stayed in Canada for 1 year and 6 months. I’ve been staying with my partner’s parents, who provide both housing and financial support. I have family back home, including my dad and brother, and I fully intend to return to them after my stay.

I would like to stay in Canada a bit longer to continue spending time with my partner and their family and to experience life here. I want to make the most of my time in the country before returning home.

Now, I want to extend my stay for another six months, but I’m worried about being rejected since I’ve already stayed quite a long time in total.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there a good chance of getting approved for another visitor record extension. Any advice or experiences would be really helpful!
You’re pushing the envelope

“I would like to stay in Canada a bit longer to continue spending time with my partner and their family and to experience life here.”

You’ve had a year and a half to do what you mentioned.

Was much easier to get an extension a year ago and as pointed out you have already had a very generous visit time wise. There will be concerns that you are working under the table if you are young enough to live with your partner’s family.
