Post graduation Work permit extension 2017

Hi there,
I applied for my work post graduation permit extension on July 17, 2017 but I still did not get any response. I called cic and got my application numbers and all that but they say that it's still in process. It has been 6 months and I am even unable to link my application online. Is it normal? Did that happen to anyone else? What are the steps I can take at this point. Thanks

On what basis did you apply for an extension? Did you not receive the full length of your PGWP originally due to your passport expiry date? When did your original PGWP expire?

Yes, my passport was good for one year so they only issued me one year permit and mentioned that I can get it renewed later after renewing my passport. I did the same but did not hear anything from them.
