Hi all,
I am wondering if there is any one here experiencing the same situation as me. I have 2 years diploma, and 1 year certificate. I took one after another. However, when I was taking a 2 years diploma, I had a one year gap. CIC gave my work permit for only 1 year. I called and talked to CIC Agent for the reason. I told me to do the extention. CIC again rejected that.

What should I do in this situation so I can get a longer work permit? Any advises? Thank you so much.

Where was the gap exactly? Not sure there is much that can be done if you took a break in the middle of studies then thats a violation of the rules.

It was over a year gap. At that time, I was told by my friend whos also international students that as long as i am not in the country, it will be fine. I also left a leave of absent at school but they did not tell me anything about the rules.

As explained in your other thread, your PGWP was issued for the right period of time given the studies you completed. Your studies during your 2 year diploma were not continuous and don't meet the PGWP requirements. This is why you only received credit for the 1 year certificate.

It doesn't matter if your school didn't tell you about the rules. This is not their responsibility. Unfortunately it's also irrelevant what your friend told you.
