Hello all,

I am applying for my sponsorship this week. I got married to a Canadian 1 year ago. I realized that I will probably have to go through a short gap between the expiry date of my post Grad work permit (Sept 19, 2018) and my new work permit. I hold a permanent full time position. I am expecting to receive my work permit on the first week of October. Do you believe I will hold implied status until I receive my new work permit? Or will I not be able to work whatsoever? If so, taking a leave of absence from my job would be enough? Or do I have to quit? What do you think?

Yes you should have implied status if you are filing with an OWP. You should submit it as soon s possible because if it gets returned, because there is an error or something missing, you will lose your implied status. If it is after Sept 19th you will have no status in Canada and will have to restore your status. You want to avoid that. Sending the application soon allows you enough time for it to be returned and then send it back again.
