We applied for a tourist visa 6 weeks ago (the application is treated in a visa office that takes 2 weeks to process applications, according to CIC web site) but we havn t heard a word from them since then.
I mentioned in my letter of invitation that i am filing a sponsorship application and PR in favor of my husband. Can this be the reason why they are delaying responding?

With a PR application "in the works", or likely to be, there are a few things to consider.
When a spouse is outside of Canada and requires a visa to visit their partner in Canada, a TRV is rarely granted.
Immigration officers often believe that there is too much risk of the visitor overstaying the visit.

So if i mess it up by giving too much information, do we have any other option now? I have been coming every 2 weeks for the last 12 months, it is exhausting and my business is suffering from my chronic absence.
Not to mention that if it takes them 6 weeks and counting to respond to a TRV how long are they going to take for a PR?

PR timelines for outland are below. The first stage of processing takes place in Mississauga. The second in the country office selected.

I would file the PR and deal with the time factor.
Lots of people do, many stay apart for much, or all of the process.
Sadly delays and time apart can be part of the process.

Thank you for your responses Baloo an scylla.
Would you recommend i send an email to the visa office mentioning about my deteriorating health, attaching copies of the tests and medical exams i just had.Can also let them know i just laid off 4 employees because of the situation, and can attach a copy of the payroll 8 months ago and one of this current month?

IMO you could send it, but I doubt that it will make much difference.

Thank you Baloo.
I am wondering why are they holding on to the passport and the application. Are they waiting to receive the PR application from CPC M ? What if my husband needed to go to Cayman Island on a business trip?

There could be many reasons that they have not finished processing.
Have you contacted them about this recently?

I would imagine that if the passport is required for travel, you would have to ask for it to be returned, or cancel the trip.

Yes B, my husband sent an email on march 10( 24 days after submitting app)they have 30 days to respond according to website.

...i feel like i am back in the middle ages... i immigrated from france 20 years ago, but it was much simpler. Never had that feeling of being dismissed as a human being.

I emailed the embassay threet imes alread after the average normal processing time has lasped (14 days in Port of Spaine). Now, I would like to find out if in case you receive yours already, how many weeks it took to arrive? Thanks!
