Hello Friends,

I am in the process of applying for a master's program in Economics for Fall 2014, and possibly attempt to do a phD in the future. I already have a master's degree from my country which is about a decade old. I was wondering if this "study gap" will raise red flags with the visa officer. Btw... I am 34. Your two cents are much appreciated. Gracia.

What were u doing all these years?? Any specific Reason??

I have 3 decades of study gap, no college or university in my background. I could show work experience in my field and that the program is related to my background. I could also show that I had looked at other colleges in other countries. I am here on a study permit now and I'm loving it.

Actually, I have been working. :) I have been gainfully employed for 12 years or so. Moreover, I lecture in a university during the weekend. I have been planning to go for further studies but never really got around to it till now. My grades including GRE and IELTS are pretty decent.

So thats really good.
I think it will be a smooth process for u.
Dnt wry about the gAp if u have work experience related to ur field of study

yes, you can, with detailed activities during that period in your letter of content....try to be honest...and list releveant and necessary details...avoid any unnecessary stuff that can elicit questions...best of luck

People need to start thinking differently about what a gap means....A gap is a period of time when you were not in school but were not doing anything else either. Getting a degree and then going on to work is a natural progression of things.

You have a built in reason for seeking further education. You are a lecturer at a university and ofcourse a Master's from a Canadian University will help you progress in that field
