Hi Guys,

Does anyone from Mumbai, India know how long does it generally take to get the police clearance certificate ?

PS: I dont have any case against me :p

Thanks

You'll get the PCC on the same day (From PSK) if there is no change in your address as per your current valid passport

Hey singhkartik3

Were you able to figure out Mumbai PCC ? I am also trying to do it from local police station, however they are saying that they will give PCC only for the duration of your current address ie last 8 months. I dont understand if this will have any implications.. let me know what did you do to get PCC from mumbai.

Apply for PCC from PSK, it will cover all the addresses that you have stayed across India.

This link on CIC website says that you need to get it from local police department - [www]cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp

Only for Delhi it says get it from PSK. Clearly, if one lives in mumbai getting PCC from PSK is not valid.. or not valid anymore...

That does not mean that PCC from PSK is not valid. In fact, I have not even come across or heard of a single case where PCC from PSK was not accepted.

Even though it has been mentioned that you can apply for PCC from local police station, the PCCs issued from these places specifically covers the clearance for the applicant's stay in that city only. In India, if the applicant has stayed at the same address or in the same city for their entire duration in India, then the applicant can go ahead with the PCC issued from local local police station.

On the other hand, if the applicant has stayed in different cities in India, then the best would be to get PCC from PSK. PCC issued by PSK is applicable for the applicant's entire stay in India as it does not mention any address of the applicant.
