I am also in a similar situation and I know you will be able to help me. One way of getting the PCC is to apply for it in your local SSP office and get it from there. However I have lived in 3 different states since I turned 18. If I apply in the SSP office, I think I will have to get a PCC from every district I have lived in. However if I apply in the regional passport office, will the certificate cover all of India or just one state or district?

Please help !!

Hi gill,

I also have the same issue and have been advised by my consultant to get the PCC from the passport office where my passport was issued, in my case chennai. Hope it helps.

All The Best & God Bless

Cheers,
Rishab

Hello Rishab,

Thank you for your reply, does any one know how much time it takes to get a PCC from the passport office. Do I have to submit my original passport ?

Hi Gill,

I enquired at the Chennai Passport Office and they told me that I have to handover the original passport and the completed FORM 2, and the PCC will be issued on the same day itself.

Cheers,
Rishab

thank you Rishab !!

For PCC you fill form 2 and deposit Rs. 300/-

You get the PCC from passport office same day only if your passport was issued less than six months from date of application of PCC. In this case they consider the verfication that they did while issuing the passport
If your passport was issued more than six months back from date of PCC application they will conduct the police enquiry again and it takes about 25-30 days. All the while your passport remains with Passport office.

The other way is to apply to SSP office. They will conduct an enquiry at your current address. And depending on your legnth of stay the enquiry may go to your native place (permanent address as well). In my case it went to my current address and permanent address in (different state ) and it took 25 days to get it.

The only thing is that Indian ways of getting things done are involved. You need to keep everyone happy in system.

My Experience:

Go to local police commissoner office-get the form-return to same office-local p[olice station officer will contact you-complete all formalities-get the certificate from commissioner office

Total 3 working days

thank you for your responses guys, my problem is that I am currently living in U.P and my permanent address is of Punjab. In between I have also lived for 3 years in Haryana. Considering all this, where should I apply for the PCC if I choose to apply in the SSP office? At my permanent address or at my current address. OR do I have to get individual PCCs from all three states. Please reply !!

Thank you..

hello simsinghgill

u have to get PCC for all the addresses where u have lived for more than 6 months.....u should apply for each one seperately

all the best i have got 7 pcc frm punjab ,chd, UP, haryana

hello navchd,

If I choose to get it from the regional passport office, will that PCC cover all the addresses or do I sill need to apply in different SSP offices?
